Ring Joint Gaskets are precision machined, metallic sealing rings suitable for high pressure and high temperature applications. RTJ gaskets are designed to seal by "initial line contact" or wedging action between the mating flange and the gasket.

The Ring Type Joint (RTJ) gasket is a forged ring that fits into the machined groove of an RTJ flange. The ring type joint gaskets are either octagonal or oval in cross-section. RTJ gaskets are generally used for high pressure and high-temperature applications.

Ring Joint Gaskets are used in pressures up to 5,000 psi in api 6b flanges, and up to 2,500 psi in asme/ansi b16.5 flanges. The oval type is the only gasket that fits a round bottom groove.rx gaskets are designed for pressures up to 5,000 psi in api 6b flanges. They are interchangeable with r-oval or r-octagonal rings used on api 6b flanges.the bx series can only be used with 6bx flanges and 16bx hubs.

Ring Joint Gaskets are designed for higher-pressure ratings starting at 5,000 psi and ending with 20,000 psi,srx and sbx series are api standardized subsea gaskets. Rx and srx or the bx and sbx will fit into their appropriate flange designated numbers. Combination rtj gaskets are a combination of two different api ring joint gaskets and are used to connect flanges with the same bolt circle dimensions and number of bolt holes.
